In the process I of importing data from my Quicken for Windows data, I discovered that my data file had been corrupted by one of the Quicken updates prior to Quicken 2016. I had to use the End of Year backup feature to trim my data base back to 31 December 2010.

I chose 31 December 2010 as my starting date as I had moved my investment accounts from Smith Barney to Raymond James during the first quarter of 2011 using the Automated Customer Account Transfer System (ACATS) to reconstruct my investment data base as my Smith Barney account data had also been corrupted. I would use the End of Year backup feature in Quicken 2016 before switching to Quicken 2019 to avoid importing any corruption that might exist in your data base. Once you convert to Quicken 2019, you will be unable to go back to Quicken 2016 as your data base will have been changed to conform to the Quicken 2019 data base architecture.
